After 6 weeks of anxiety, trying several different methods resulting in minimal weight gain (5 oz. above birth weight), baby Bennett was diagnosed with a stage III lip-tie and a stage IV, or “posterior”, tongue-tie. The mother was then referred to The Brush Stop in Carlsbad, CA. There Dr. Jenna Khoury used her LightScalpel CO2 dental laser to perform laser frenectomies to correct the tongue- and lip-ties (See Figures 2 and 3). Immediately after the procedure, baby Bennett’s latch improved dramatically (See Figure 4). He then went on to gain 1 lb. and 7 oz. in the 12 days to follow (See Figures 1 and 5).

Credits to Bennett’s mother (wishes to remain anonymous) and Dr. Jenna Khoury at The Brush Stop – Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics in Carlsbad, CA for this touching story.
